What you will study
- Acrylic layering and scraping back resists and impasto
- Automatic painting, music, visual improvisation and abstraction through memories, place and time
- Knowledge and inspiration from abstract movements such as Bauhaus, Surrealists, and Abstract Expressionism
- Learn from artists who use paint in an inspirational way: JMW Turner, Gerhard Richter, Mark Rothko, Lee Krasner, Bridget Riley, Peter Lanyon and Kurt Jackson, among others
- Develop your art practice with the sketchbook and collage
You will need:
- Either Sharp Pencil (HB, B, 2B), Rubber, charcoal or chalk pastels
- A box of 12 watercolours in Tubes by Reeves (£12-15), Windsor and Newton, or a pan set of 12 colours
- A palette – a Plate is suitable in either plastic or ceramic
- Paper: ACID-Free Watercolour paper pad, either Medium Not textured in at least 300 GSM in A4 or A3 (£10-15)
- Three containers of Water
- Watercolour Brushes: Flat brushes 1inch and two inches (Hake, Synthetic or Sable)
- Scissors
- Pritt Stick
- Round brush with tip: Goat hair (oriental if possible) Small round-headed brush in size 4 -6 not essential (Synthetic or Sable)
- One sheet of Black emery paper or fine sandpaper
